11/08/2008 - Shima Mie, Japan (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Ji-Yai Shin fired a six-under 66 to take the second-round lead Saturday at the Mizuno Classic.
Shin stood at 10-under-par 134 overall, two shots ahead of first round co- leader Mayu Hattori (69).
Jee Young Lee and Shiho Oyama shared third place at seven-under 137 after both players carded rounds of 68 at Kintetsu Kashikojima Country Club. Erina Hara (67) and Eun-A Lim (70) were another stroke further back at six-under 138.
This is the third consecutive event in Asia for the LPGA Tour and its final tournament on the continent this season. It features just three of the top 10 players in the world: No. 2 Yani Tseng, No. 8 Shin and No. 9 Karrie Webb.
Among them, only the leader Shin was competitive heading into the final round. Webb (75) was tied for 65th place at three-over 147, while Tseng (76) was two shots further off the pace and tied for 72nd place.
Shin opened her round with a birdie at the first hole, then made five consecutive pars before making another birdie at the seventh. She posted a 34 on the front nine, then turned it on.
Back-to-back birdies at the 10th and 11th, then the 15th and 16th, gave the 20-year-old Korean her second 36-hole lead on the LPGA Tour.
The last time Shin held the second round lead was in August, when she won her first career major championship at the Women's British Open.
Miki Saiki, who shared the first-round lead with Hattori, stumbled to a 73 on Saturday and dropped into a tie for ninth place at four-under 140 -- six shots off the current pace.
Defending champion Momoko Ueda shot a 74 and was out of the picture at even- par 144. Ueda won this title last year in just her fifth start on the LPGA Tour.
