11/07/2008 - McKinney, TX (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Garrett Osborn fired a six-under 65 on Friday to join overnight leader Darron Stiles atop the leaderboard after the second round of the Nationwide Tour Championship.
Stiles, who eagled his last for a four-under 67, matched Osborn in first at 11-under 131. The pair owns a two-shot lead at Craig Ranch.
This is the final event of the year, and players are battling to get into the top 25 on the money list. The top 25 earn PGA Tour cards for next season and one co-leader needs to get into that number.
Osborn is 47th on the money list and needs a win or solo second to crack that top 25. Stiles is seventh and is assured a spot next year on the PGA Tour.
Colt Knost shot a five-under 66 and is alone in third place at minus-nine. Knost is 11th on the money list, and, like Stiles, will be playing next year on the big tour.
Hunter Haas (66) and Bryce Molder (67) are part of a group tied for fourth place at eight-under 134. Those players are both outside the top 25, with Haas only in 26th and Molder at No. 32.
Marc Leishman is cautiously in the top 25 at No. 23 and posted a four-under 67 on Friday. He joined Haas, Molder and Jeff Klauk (69) in fourth at eight- under-par 134.
Osborn bogeyed one, but got the shot back with a birdie at No. 2. He posted back-to-back birdies at five and six, then closed his front nine with a birdie at nine.
He parred his first five holes on the second nine, but rolled in a 20-footer for birdie at the 15th. Osborn sank a 10-foot birdie putt at the 16th, which gave him sole possession of the lead after Stiles missed a seven-footer for par at the same hole.
Osborn birdied the last, but was joined in first when Stiles eagled the par- five closing hole.
Stiles cruised with four front-nine birdies. He had a decent look at eagle at the par-five ninth, but two-putted for a birdie from 18 feet.
Stiles double-bogeyed the par-four 12th to fall out of the lead. He hit a spectacular wedge to inches at the 14th to move back into first, but that bogey at 16, coupled with Osborn's birdie knocked him out of the top spot on the leaderboard.
Casey Wittenberg (64), Matt Bettencourt (67) and Spencer Levin (69) are knotted in eighth place at minus-seven.
Brendon de Jonge, the money leader, shot a two-under 69 and is tied for 16th at four-under 138.
